October Celebrations

October was full of fun with Colleen coming to Boston for fall break from Villanova, the first annual Vineyard Wives Getaway, and Jim's birthday.

Colleen spent the first weekend of fall break with Melissa at Duke. Colleen's friend, Sarah, who is at UNC-Wilmington, drove up to Duke for the weekend and the girls had a reunion of sorts. It was the first time she had seen Melissa and any of her friends from PVB since school started. She then flew to Boston for the remainder of the week most of which was spent with her dad.

Out on the town.

While Colleen was relaxing in Boston, several of my friends from Ponte Vedra who are also new empty nesters and the mother's of Colleen's friends flew in for the first Vineyard Wives Getaway. We had lots of fun sipping wine by the fire, eating, sightseeing, and catching up on our lives now that all the children are in college or beyond. It was just what the doctor ordered!

Luckily Colleen and Emily were on hand to enjoy a nice dinner and birthday cake out with Jim and some friends. Unfortunately, I contracted a cold and was out of commission for Jim's birthday celebration and Melissa was at school:( I'm hoping Mel can make it up for a weekend soon. I miss her!

Party!

Sadly, Jim has left Boston. Happily, he is excited to be embarking on a new and challenging venture at United Health Group in Minneapolis. He is getting acclimated and settled into his new job and new digs at the Calhoun Beach Club (that's right beach club). No snow yet, but maybe this weekend. I'll keep you posted.

Go Wildcats!

Colleen has taken to the collegiate life without a hiccup. Okay, maybe one hiccup, she overslept and missed class one morning. But our recent Parent's Weekend at Villanova was filled with laughter and fun. We started off the trip by taking Colleen and four friends to dinner, always a treat for the parents and students. No surprise that we loved her new friends. Jim golfed and the girls had mani/pedis and hit the mall. Family entertainment for the weekend was a comedy improv night with Colin Mochrie and Brad Sherwood. They were performers on the hit TV program Whose Line Is It Anyway with Drew Carey. It was an interactive performance including random members of the audience. Totally hilarious! We laughed until our sides hurt for 90 minutes.

Saturday afternoon Colleen donned her NovaNation t-shirt and we headed to Villanova stadium to cheer the Wildcats (56) to victory over the Northeastern Huskies (7). We enjoyed sushi that night at Nectar's, a restaurant I think we will visit again and again over the next few years.

At Nectar's.

The weekend came to an all too soon end and we took off bright and early Sunday morning under rainy skies for Boston and home.
